My name is Ronnie Mendoza (although my friends and family call me Bon Bon) and I want to thank you for visting my page! I like to consider myself a business professional who knows how to tackle a problem from different angles. I approach every project by utilizing my creative knowledge with a technical background. I like to pique my curiosity by exploring all opportunities presented to me.
I'm fascinated by the idea of Big Data, disruptive technologies, Health Informatics, and using digital tools to structure more effective learning environments. I complement this interest with a passion for web design and application development. My passion for photography/videography allows me to keep an open and creative mind to frame issues in the right context. This allows me to find solutions in the most unique and efficient manner.
I'm a Rutgers University graduate with a B.S. in Business Analytics IT and a minor in Digital Communications, Information & Media. I may not be a student you'd find in a typical college lecture hall anymore, but I am always opening my mind to new ideas and perspectves. You never really stop being a student...
I have experience using HTML5, CSS, jQuery/Javascript and the Bootstrap Framework for responsive design. I learned more about full-stack developmemt when I interned at Canon as an Application Developer. My team developed on a Microsoft Stack using C# and ASP .NET Web Application Framework, and communicating with the backend SQL Server.
I got into photography because there has been so many moments in my life that have popped back into my mind from long ago. There are no visual artifacts, just emotions, and it's frustrating to not be able to piece these memories together. I decided to pick up my first camera, a Canon Rebel T4i, to help document these moments. This simple hobby eventually ended up being a large part of my life, unexpectedly opening doors to new experiences.
Sooner or later my passion for photography was going to evolve into videography, right? In an era as dynamic as our own, the most effective way to capture an individual's attention is through the use of creative mediums. I believe videos are THE best tool to get your message to an audience. Go on ahead and check out my YouTube channel to see some videos I've worked on.
One of my greatest passions is playing and listening to music. I have been playing piano since I was 8 years old and was classically trained, drawing inspiration from baroque era composers like Frederic Chopin to more modern geniuses like Nobuo Uematsu and Joe Hisiashi. I played violin too but don't ask me about that. When I'm relaxing, you'll find me listening to all genres of music from Alternative (Young the Giant, Vampire Weekend, Wild Child, etc.), Electronic (Passion Pit, Vacationer, ODESZA, etc.), Hip-Hop/Rap (Chance the Rapper, Kanye West, Drake, etc.) and the list goes on and on. The list does not include country and metal. Not sorry.
So the idea is this: we're all on this planet trying make the best of what we have. The only way we can do this is by learning new ideas and working together. There's many people trying to sell their ideas not for the sake of knowledge, but for their own pockets (which I completely understand). This is why the idea of TED Talks and open collaboration is so exciting. Just great people passionately sharing their ideas and research for the sole betterment of society. This is what I experienced by joining TEDxRutgers my junior year of college. I moderated and managed various committees comprised of amazing individuals, all with their own unique strengths. By understanding these individual competencies, I was able to create synergies and foster a collaborative that ultimately lead to the success of our annual conferences. I also utilized my own creative and technical strengths to coordinate A/V system requirements and create engaging promotional videos.
Here is where I want to share my photography (and eventually videography) work with you. MANY more albums to come as soon as I organize my photos... and my life. Check out my Flickr to see my most recent work. Enjoy!
